A few words from the CEO

Dear reader,

Welcome to the 2025 Annual Report of Greater Geneva Bern area (GGBa).

In an international environment characterized by growing competition between economic regions, Western Switzerland continues to demonstrate its ability to attract international companies. The region’s stability, openness, and strong innovation ecosystems remain key advantages for businesses seeking a reliable and competitive base in Europe.

In 2025, GGBa and the cantonal economic promotion offices supported the establishment of 91 foreign companies across Western Switzerland. These companies, originating mainly from France, the United States, and a range of other international markets, are expected to create 740 jobs within the next three years, contributing to the region’s economic vitality and long-term growth.

Beyond its core missions of prospection, promotion, and business intelligence, GGBa maintained a selective approach focused on projects aligned with the industrial, technological, and scientific strengths of the region. This strategy prioritizes sustainable economic integration and long-term value creation rather than simply increasing the number of company establishments.

In 2025, this targeted approach enabled the identification of more than 200 new projects, bringing the portfolio of active opportunities to over 400. At the same time, GGBa continued to strengthen its international engagement through targeted outreach, strategic partnerships, and a sustained presence in key global markets.

As global economic dynamics evolve, maintaining strong connections with international markets remains essential. Enhanced international connectivity, including new direct intercontinental air links launched during the year, further reinforces the region’s accessibility and attractiveness for international companies.

We invite you to explore this Annual Report and discover the initiatives, collaborations, and achievements that shaped 2025.

On behalf of the entire GGBa team, I wish you an engaging read.
